An African-American George Floyd’s death in police custody in the US, sparked a lot of anger amongst the people. This once again gave rise to racial discrimination which has been prevalent in many countries even after ages. After many celebs across the globe came in support of this and posted a blank black photo with the #BlackLivesMatter, actress Malavika Mohanan has tale to narrate about Indian’s obsession over fair skin tone terming it to be beautiful and placing it a higher level in the society.
Malavika Mohanan narrated a story in her Instagram post from her childhood how a pal of her was constantly told by his mother that if he drinks tea, his complexion will darken. Thus indicates how the differentiation on the basis of colour and racism always existed in the society. Also she mentioned about how people with dark skin tone were also termed as Kala. Penning further in her post she mentioned some even generalized of these dark skinned people to belong to a certain caste which mostly Madrasis.
Just like how on a large scale Indians from the North Eastern region are termed as Chinki, and all black people are by default called Negros.
On this entire scenario, the actress feels while we speak about it on the global level, it needs to begin at home by educating people around us about it. ALSO READ: 10 Smoking Photos Of Vicky Kaushal’s Rumoured Ladylove Malavika Mohanan: Insta Stalker Alert!
